Today, I am thrilled to share a milestone in my musical journey: the release of my debut album under the name LyreLaike. The Story Behind LyreLaike
Choosing the name LyreLaike marked a new chapter in my creative life. It represents a blend of musical heritage and personal identity, inspired by the lyre, an ancient string instrument known for its rich, melodic tones. This name reflects my commitment to crafting music that honors tradition while embracing modern sounds. Laike is a old Yorkshire word meaning play. Many early memories begin with 'lets go and Laike out'
The artist name LyreLaike represents a space I am able to write personally about nature, and how is connects personally to my own experience. As I am writing LyreLaike music from the heart I hope it will resonate with your experience of being connected to nature.
What You Can Expect from LyreLaike Music
No AI - I love making music, and the joy of expressing my own experience, and then tweaking until it matches the initial vistion is a big part of why I am doing this.
Soundtrack-like music. The initial releases feel more soundtrack to nature than anything else. I may release more traditional song-link tracks in the future, but for now, the comfortableness I have with pure instrumental music makes it easier to carry across the musical intention.

Behind the Scenes: Creating the Album
Recording this single was a journey filled with learning and growth. I feel I have really made progress with my understanding of music production, mixing, and sampling during this initial release.
Composition: This began with a feeling, and then improvisation at the piano. Then, it happened, almost in one take, the piano part in its entiriry.
Recording sessions: Additional layers were added to compliment the original simple idea. I realised, alot of my work prior to this was about ego. Big, complex, details. This stripped all that away. Simple, every layer means something, not just to build something complex.
Mixing and mastering: The groundbreaking part of the proscess for me. A weak area, when I started composing for media, but my ear has developed lots, and now I can focus in on the many details that make a good sounding recording.
Artwork and branding: The album cover and promotional materials were designed to reflect the mood and themes of the music, using free software I pieced something together that reflexts the theme of the track.
This hands-on approach across everything stage of the proscess feels really satisfying!
What This Release Means to Me
Releasing this album under the LyreLaike name is more than just sharing music; it’s about connecting with listeners on a deeper level. It represents years of dedication, creativity, and the courage to put my work out into the world.
Music has always been a source of comfort and inspiration for me, and I hope this and future releases can offer the same to others.
